We support the RSPCA’s campaign for tougher penalties for animal cruelty offenders.

The RSPCA work tirelessly to prevent cruelty to animals, however despite laws, cruelty to animals still occurs.

Currently, the maximum penalty for the most serious animal abuse cases is just six months custodial and/or an unlimited fine. We agree with the National RSPCA that this is not sufficient. There should be tougher penalties, restorative justice and a register of offenders for those found guilty of animal cruelty offences.

England is falling behind other countries in sentences it allows for animal cruelty. Over 20 countries worldwide, including Northern Ireland, have tougher sentences.

You can take action for tougher animal sentencing – click here to email the Secretary of State for Justice and ask him to support our calls for tougher penalties, restorative justice and a register of offenders for those found guilty of animal cruelty offences.
